Local models

Run a local model on a computer you attached with MachineSync. Token generation happens on that computer. Cloud credits are not the meter for that inference. Workspace memory still lives in The Cloud once you sign in.

Not metered by Cloud credits

Token generation happens on the computer you attached. Cloud credits are not the meter for that inference.

Inference stays on your machine

Prompts and generation run there. Your workspace memory still lives in The Cloud once you sign in.

Same workspace context

A local model reads the same memory layer every other surface reads, so a run starts from what you already wrote.

Run a local model in three steps

  1. 1
    Install MachineSync and pair

Download the signed, notarized macOS app, open it, and paste the one-time pairing code. That computer becomes compute The Cloud can dispatch runs to.

  2. 2
Install a local runtime on that computer

The in-app steps name Ollama. Pull an open model such as gpt-oss with it.

  3. 3
Pick the local model on a run or a Loop

Choose it when you start a run, or set it as the model on a Loop. Speed and context follow that computer's RAM and GPU.
