About

Heidi Feinstein, leadership mentor and business consultant, Portsmouth NH

Why Me You Ask?

I spent 25 years in hospitality, the toughest industry there is. I founded Life Alive Cafés on a single idea — revitalize the world one meal at a time — and grew it from a 1,700 square foot condo on a side street with no windows into a company people crossed the state for.

I have also lost businesses I built. I trusted the wrong partners, kept underperformers too long, and moved faster than my structures could hold. I know what being burned costs.

That is why my work is equal parts beauty and infrastructure. Vision without systems gets taken from you. Systems without vision aren't worth protecting.

Harvard, MIT, Tufts, and Northeastern have invited me to teach their students about social enterprise, food security, and sustainable hospitality.

Sensual Beauty

Life is Art. Art is Love. Love is Beauty. Seek and create beauty and what you touch will bloom.

Holistic Connection

We are all interwove. Amplifying the threads that unite us reduces friction and releases untapped potential.

Deep Curiosity

An open mindset coupled with creative exploration feeds innovation and plumbs the depths of possibility to expand our reach and impact.

Generous Service

When we intentionally uplift others and enact a culture of dignity, we foster a virtuous cycle of progress that reverberates far beyond us.

Joyful Impact

Choosing to focus on the positive and infusing pleasure into practice is serious business. Mindful joy is seismic when challenges are part of growth.

  1. Entrepreneurs are artists and healers. Businesses built on passion and purpose are independent drivers of social change.
  2. Mission is the compass guiding all strategy and decision making. Your “WHY” simplifies all complexities, confusion, and cross-roads ensuring you’re agile– and maintain your integrity – in all situations, with or without you. When in doubt, your mission has the answer, however if meeting your mission risks your stability, choose the option closest to your mission’s ideal and seek to get there in time.
  3. People are the lifeblood of any and every enterprise. Relationships are the work: Customer satisfaction and business outcomes improve when leaders focus on human connections over transactions. People crave recognition & purpose: Purpose-driven employees demonstrate higher commitment and lower job stress levels. Motivation & collaboration drive innovation and flexibility.
  4. We must reclaim the feminine to flourish in leadership. Female leaders use transformational leadership styles that inspire and motivate through purpose. Vulnerability helps build trust, foster creativity, and engage colleagues in deeper ways. Emotionally intelligent leaders communicate effectively, empathize deeply, and create innovative environments.
  5. Extraordinary creators are wide awake—to the world, to themselves, to others. To lead authentically with an open heart demands even more awareness and courage than it takes to launch. When leaders see themselves clearly, they are more confident, creative, make sounder decisions, build stronger relationships, and communicate more effectively.
  6. When we mimic the natural world in our organizational systems and structures we create resilience, pleasure and efficiency. Biomimicry and biophilic design captures mysterious forces and taps us into synergistic, self-sustaining operations that require less energy to thrive. Workers in environments with more green are 6% more productive, 15% more creative and report a 15% higher level of wellbeing. Circular production cycles resources internally while enabling regenerative value creation.
  7. Automation must be carefully chosen. Tech and AI are fantastic for mechanical, repetitive tasks that eat up our time and sap our creative juices. More often than not, these “tools” serve to silo our people and operations, creating emptiness and dissociation in our teams and culture. Your people don’t really want the “easy” way for the things that matter — they hunger to feel necessary, competent, and supported amidst challenge, rather than disengaged and obsolete.
